Exploring the Meanings of the Holy Quran through Translation and the Role of Emerging Technologies

Aim and Scope                                                                                                     

The Holy Quran holds a significant religious and symbolic importance  Invitation-Conference-English-(1).jpgfor over a billion Muslims. By definition, translating the Holy Quraninvolves transcending linguistic and cultural boundaries. This international conference aims to bring scholars, researchers, and translators together to explore various methodologies and techniques used in Quran translation, emphasizing the role of linguistic and cultural constraints while preserving the Quran's original beauty and style. The conference will explore innovative solutions and technological tools that can help produce translations that resonate with contemporary audiences while preserving the noble message of the Quran.

Program Organization

The Conference will be organized as thematic sessions for presentations of papers. We invite abstracts for presentations on the following main themes (subthemes are provided on the webpage).
  • Historical perspectives in the translation of the Holy Quran
  • Methods and approaches in the translation of the Holy Quran
  • Culture in/of the translation of the Holy Quran                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Call for Contributions
  • Innovations and emerging technologies in the translation of the Holy Quran

Submission Procedures

Scholars, researchers, translators and those who are interested are all invited for theme sessions which should last for 20 minutes, with 5-10 minutes for questions (total 30 minutes) and they should be in line with the following guidelines:
Abstracts should be no more than 250 words and may be submitted in either Arabic or English.
Bio should not exceed 100 words.

Submitted paper

Must be the original work of the presenter and has not been presented or published elsewhere. Papers that have not been presented before but accepted for publication in a journal or other publication and have not gone to print before the conference, are permitted for submission.

Important Dates

Abstracts submission deadline: May 31, 2025
Notifications: Within four weeks
Full conference paper submission (post-conference): Contributions, between 5000 to 8000 words including references, should be submitted in January 31, 2026 and will be subject to peer review. A selection of papers will be published.
Conference Languages:  Arabic and English.
Conference fees: Academic staff / researchers 40 OMR ($104) to be paid by August 31, 2025. Students: free.
Venue: Al-Zahra College for Women, Muscat, Oman
